
Roadmap for Integrating POCUS into Midwifery & Women’s Health Practice
Course Overview
Global evidence establishes the need for POCUS in women's healthcare, and numerous training programs have been reiewed and implemented. To date, there are few published reviews on a comprehensive stepwise approach to introducing a POCUS program into clinical practice. This course is designed to be an introduction to a roadmap describing factors to investigate prior to beginning. Those considering this addition need to be aware of the benefits, risks/pitfalls, tasks, and standards of providing POCUS in women's health.
Course Objectives
By the end of this webinar, each participant will be able to:
Clearly state evidence-based rationale for integrating POCUS into practice
Develop a planning template for determining feasibility
Develop an imlementation template for:
Funding
Selection and purchase of Hardware (machines and equipment)
Protocol development, including safety assurance, based on national and international guidelines
Consultation and referral structure
Work flow adaptations
Reimbursement
Outline implementation strategies for providing standardized, evidence-based training for providers
